The South Wales & South West Roofing Training Group was formed in 1996 when the South Wales & South West of England groups merged. The Group’s aim is to co-ordinate and provide a comprehensive service for member companies for the training of roofing occupations and allied activities. We cover a huge area from Lands End in the far South West of England across to Bournemouth in Dorset to the East, North to Swindon and back across the whole of South Wales.
The new Group became an independent grant aided Group in 1999 when a Company Ltd by guarantee was formed. Shortly after this, it became an Accredited NVQ Assessment Centre for Applied Waterproof Membranes at level 2, Roof Slating & Tiling and Sheeting & Cladding at levels 2&3.
The Company is based in Woodbury Salterton and it has two Directors, Graham Nye and Mike Long and Company Secretary Zan Nye who have all been involved with the Group since before its amalgamation and subsequent achievement of independence. We also have a Management Committee that meets three times a year to plan and develop strategies. Our Lead Internal Verifier and Training Co-Ordinator is Martin Rickards.
We have grown considerably in the past years and now have over 60 full members and 54 affiliates. We are able to offer courses in virtually all roofing related subjects either directly or through industry partners. Details of the courses available are listed on the following page.
Where a course is not available - please let us know what you are looking for. We are continually developing new training and it might be possible for us to develop a bespoke training course for your company.
